Sew Along - All Seasons Dress - Day 2

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to Day 2! Today we will b covering steps 14-24. I'm finishing my armholes with bias tape.

Now, when I'm using bias I like to trim the arm holes down 1/4" to account for the 1/2" seam allowance we aren't using. You don't have to do this, of course.

If you're using a collar, now you can baste your collar in place along your front bodice.

Then we will join our bodice at the shoulders. Make sure you have the correct pieces as one back piece is a shorter width than the other back piece. Lay it all out first and then pin and sew.

Repeat it for the lining. Lay it all out again to be 100% that all the correct pieces are in the corrrct places.

If you're making sleeves or ruffles, line the edges up at the "gather for sleeves" notches and pull your gathering stitches to gather the sleeve or ruffle to fit.

If you're doing the flutters (like I am) then attach your flutter all the way to 1/2" before the bodice end front and back. Again - I made a video.... again, it wouldn't load.... #technologyhatesme so here is a quick photo instead....

Put a gathering stitch in your front and back dress pieces

Lay your bodice down and mark a spot 1/2" from the bottom and side edges of your bodice.

Put your bodice front down and gather the front dress piece to fit in-between those marks you just made - so there should be 1/2" overhang on each side. Sew it down with a 1/2" seam allowance.

Do the same for the back on the armhole side - you will have already marked a "skirt gather" notch on the inside backs of your back bodice pieces. Attach your skirt and gather to fit - fold the onside back over 1/2" and pin that folded edge over on the bodice - sew down with a 1/2" seam allowance.
